This game is the first round of an OTB tournament with one 90+30 game per week. I won a pawn in the opening and most of the game was about keeping the control and converting the advantage.
1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.cxd5 exd5 5.Bg5 Be7 6.e3 Bf5?
White to play
7.Qb3?
I thought for a minute over that move but since I thought it was the correct move, I didn't look too hard for a way for black to keep the pawn.
7.Bxf6! Bxf6 8.Qb3 would have won a pawn by force
7...Bc8?
Returning the favour. 7...Nbd7! 8.Nxd5?? Nxd5 9. Qxd5 Bb4+! (I missed this in my calculations) 10.Kd1 Qxg5 -+
8.Bxf6 Bxf6 9.Nxd5 c6 10.Nxf6+ Qxf6
White to play
White has won a pawn and has a big advantage
11.Nf3 Nd7 12.Bd3 O-O 13.O-O
At this point, I was playing for a minority attack on the queen side. During the game I tried to play active and not think that the game will win itself.
13...Nb6 14.Qc2
I also looked at 14.a4 but didn't see the point in driving the knight to the d5-square.
14...h6 15.b4 Be6 (15...Nd5 16.Rab1) 16.a4 Nd5 17.Rab1
Black to play
Here I saw that white has to take care of the c3-square. Initially, I wanted to aim for a setup with Qe2 but the knight fork prevented this. I had the move 18.Qd2 in mind followed by Rfd1 and Ne5, but black's next move changes the plan completely.
17...Qe7 (17...Rac8 (I was constantly expecting this move during the game) 18.Ne5) 18.Qc5 Qxc5?!
I think that black shouldn't have exchanged queens on c5
19.bxc5 Rab8
19...b6?! (This move worried me a bit during the game) 20.Rfc1! I didn't see this during the game but this move makes it clear that b6 was a bad idea
20.a5
Black to play
Now white has prevented a possible b6 break and the position looks beautiful. My only problem during the game was that I didn't want to force matters too early and allow my opponent counterplay. I decided that I will slowly improve my position and wait for my opponent to show their intentions.
20...f6?!
This looks strange since it weakens all the light squares on the kingside.
21.Nh4
Exploiting the weakened light squares. 21.Bc4!? (I only saw this after I played Nh4) 21...Bf7 22.Rb3 Nc7 23.Bxf7+ Rxf7 24.Rfb1 Nb5
21...a6 22.Nf5 Bxf5 23.Bxf5 Kf7 24.Bd3 Nc3 25.Rb3 Nb5 26.Rd1 Rfd8
White to play
27.f3
Here I decided to play it calmly and bring my king closer. Black has no productive plans: the knight cannot reach a better square and their rooks don't have open files
27...g5 28.Kf2 Ke6?!
I don't understand why black didn't play Ke7 right away
29.Bc4+ Ke7 (29...Kf5 30.Bf7! and the king is trapped) 30.Rbd3 Nc7
White to play
31.e4 h5 32.d5 cxd5 33.exd5 Nb5 34.Bxb5 axb5
The remainder of the game is pretty simple
35.Rb1 Rd7 36.Rxb5 Rc8 37.Ke3 Kf7 38.Kd4 Kg6 39.Rdb3 Ra8 40.Rxb7 Rxb7 41.Rxb7 Rxa5 42.c6 Ra4+ 43.Kc3 Ra8 44.c7 Rc8 45.d6 1-0
Overall, I managed to stay concentrated for the whole game and also found some interesting ideas during my opponent's time. I am pretty happy with the win but during the last phase of the game my calculation wasn't very accurate and I saw many ideas for black which didn't work for obvious reasons.
