This is my round 2 game from my most recent OTB tournament and you can find my round 1 game here.
Before this game started I didn't feel well and because of that I couldn't concentrate on
the game in the first 15 minutes. Therefore, I should have played slowly in the opening
since I had enough time for the game anyway. But I played too quickly and mixed up the
move order in the opening and quickly ended up with a much worse position.
I didn't add many variations to the game, since I was much worse early on and this
evaluation didn't change throughout the game.
The game
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 e5 5.Nb5 d6 6.N1c3 Nf6 7.Bg5
Black to play
This move is bad, not only for tactical reasons but because I thought that I could recapture on f6 with the bishop. I only realised that this would lose the d6 pawn.
The correct line was 7...a6 8.Na3 b5 9.Nd5 Be7 which I knew before the game and it is also not hard to see that 7...a6 has to be played.
8.Bxf6 gxf6 9.Nd5 Qa5+?
White to play
Again, this move is just bad. Before making this move, I thought that my queen was better on a5
but a couple of moves later I realised that it is needed on d8.
9...O-O 10.Nbc7 Rb8 11.Qh5 this would have been the lesser evil for black
10.c3 Kf8 11.Nxe7 Nxe7
At this point, I finally managed to think straight, but black is already close to lost.
12.Qxd6 Qb6
White to play
13.O-O-O
(13. Qxb6 axb6)
13...Qxd6 14.Rxd6 Kg7 15.Nc7 Rb8 16.Bc4 f5 17.f3 fxe4 18.fxe4 b6 19.Rf1 Rf8 20.Rdf6 Nf5
White to play
I tried my best to be tricky, but it is not difficult for white to find the right move
21.Ne8+ (21. exf5 Kxf6) 21...Rxe8 22.Rxf7+ Kh6 23.exf5 Bb7 24.Rf2 Rf8 25.Re7 Rfe8 26.Rxe8 Rxe8 27.f6 Be4
28.f7 Rf8 29.Kd2 Bg6 30.Ke3 Kg5 31.a4 a5 32.g3 h5 33.h4+ Kg4 34.Rf6 Bc2 35.Rxb6 Kf5 36.b3 e4 37.Rh6 Bd1 38.Be6+ Ke5 39.Rg6 1-0
